Workspace Social with Jürgen Simpson and John Galvin

Description

The inaugural performance of air india [redacted] marked the 30th anniversary of the 1985 bombing of the Air India Flight 182 which occurred over Irish airspace. This week, we invite composer Jürgen Simpson and visual artist John Galvin to talk about their collaboration on this contemporary opera. As the flight originally departed from Canada, the première was held in Vancouver in November 2015 directed by Tom Creed and featuring Turning Point Ensemble.

air india [redacted] is the result of over five years research and planning by Simpson, and is inspired by the work of the poet Renée Sarojini Saklikar in her award-winning book, children of air india.
