Biography

Dr. Abey Jose is an interdisciplinary Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Scientist specializing in the evaluation and optimization of Digital Health Systems (DHSs), grounded by extensive expertise in engineering and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Limerick, he contributes to the IGNITE project, a collaborative initiative with Makerere University focused on strengthening integrated DHSs for Food Security & Nutrition (FS&N) in Uganda. His work involves system assessments and engagement with frontline health workers to identify operational gaps and formulate an implementation plan aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 and 3. Previously, as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of Cagliari, he worked on an advanced Human Digital Twin project, enhancing his expertise in real-time patient monitoring and healthcare innovation.

Dr. Jose's academic foundation includes a PhD in Engineering Science from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, where his research examined the competence requirements and organizational factors influencing the adoption of Healthcare 4.0 technologies. He brings significant practical rigor from his seven years in industry, including a role as a Quality Management System Engineer at Micro Labs Limited. In this capacity, he managed critical quality processes such as deviation, change control, risk assessment, CAPA, and equipment qualification. This unique combination of experience in advanced digital health research, process optimization, and industrial quality management positions him to develop robust, scalable solutions for global health challenges.
