Mxenes Synthesis and applications

Biography

Adnan earned his B.Sc degree from the University of Sargodha, Pakistan. He then pursued a master’s degree in Chemistry at Bacha Khan University, Pakistan, graduating  with distinction and receiving a Gold Medal in recognition of his exceptional academic performance. During his postgraduate studies, Adnan focused his research on spectrophotometric quantification techniques, specifically developing visible absorption-based methods for the analysis of vitamins in pharmaceutical preparations.
Following his masters, Adnan began his professional career in the pharmaceutical industry as a Quality Control researcher. He gained over five years of practical experience across leading pharmaceutical firms. His role encompassed a broad range of responsibilities including analytical method development and validation, quality control testing, and comprehensive documentation of analytical reports. He developed proficiency in operating a wide array of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, IR, LC-MS, XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, and particle size analyzers.
Since May 2024, Adnan has commenced his doctoral research at the Bernal Institute, University of Limerick, under the supervision of Dr. Tadhg Kennedy. His current research is focused on the novel  synthesis and application of MXenes for next-generation battery technologies. This work involves top-down and bottom-up approaches for 2D Mxenes synthesis, materials known for their outstanding electrical conductivity, high surface area, and chemical tunability. The objective of his project is to advance the performance of lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries by enhancing charge transport efficiency, electrode architecture, and energy storage capacity.
Adnan’s research is inherently multidisciplinary, integrating aspects of materials science, nanotechnology, and electrochemistry.
