My research focuses on behavioural and lifestyle interventions for the prevention and management of chronic diseases, with a particular emphasis on cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). I am especially interested in how evidence-based approaches, such as dietary change, physical activity, and medication adherence, can be enhanced through digital health innovations, including mobile applications and AI-driven tools.
As part of my doctoral research within the Horizon Europe-funded SHIELD project, I examine how systematic reviews of behavioural interventions can inform the design of scalable, personalised strategies to support self-management and disease prevention. I am also interested in the role of the Mediterranean diet and multi-component lifestyle programmes in improving health outcomes, as well as in questions of long-term sustainability and real-world implementation.
Broadly, my work sits at the intersection of psychology, public health, and digital innovation, with the goal of reducing the global burden of non-communicable diseases through accessible and effective behavioural change strategies.
I completed my BSc Honours in Psychology at Ulster University, Coleraine, followed by a postgraduate qualification in Research Methods for Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast. I am currently undertaking a PhD in Psychological Science, where my research focuses on behavioural interventions for the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
My doctoral research forms part of the Horizon Europe-funded SHIELD project, which develops scalable, digital health strategies to support disease prevention and self-management. My work synthesises evidence from systematic reviews to inform the design of AI-driven mobile health tools, with the aim of improving long-term health behaviours and reducing the global burden of chronic disease.
Alongside my research, I have teaching interests in health psychology, behavioural science, and research methods.
I am also committed to research dissemination and engagement, sharing findings through conferences, public outreach, and collaborative initiatives that bridge psychology, healthcare, and digital innovation.
