Biography
I completed my PhD in Clinical Medicine at the Dermatology and Allergology, University of Szeged, Hungary. In 2016, I moved to Ireland to undertake a Research Assistant, then Research Fellow position in the Renal Inflammation Group at Trinity College Dublin where I was involved in multiple projects, particularly in dissecting the pathogenesis of anti-PR3 vasculitis using humanised mice. In 2017, I received a Postdoctoral Fellowship under the Enterprise IRC Partnership Scheme with Prof. Matthew Griffin (Immunology, Regenerative Medicine Institute, University of Galway) in collaboration with Dr Stephen Elliman (Orbsen Therapeutics Ltd) to study the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells in a common, severe sepsis-associated renal disease. In 2019, I joined Prof. John Dalton’s group (Dalton Laboratory, Immunology & Infection Cluster, University of Galway) as a Postdoctoral Researcher. I spent two years as an Assistant Lecturer in Biology and Biopharmaceutical Science in SETU Waterford, after which, I undertook a University Teacher position at UL.
Research Interests
My research is focusing on the therapeutic potential of parasite-designed and other molecules for the treatment of sepsis and its common complication, acute kidney injury (AKI), with the aim of identifying and developing biotherapeutic strategies for this common life-threatening disease.
