Research Interests

Dr Breda Moloney’s research focuses on palliative care and the experiences of carers across the life course, including young carers, student carers, and family carers in employment. Her broader research interests include health and wellbeing, ageing, intellectual disabilities, and the development of clinical skills essential for high‑quality palliative care delivery.

Teaching Interests

Dr Moloney teaches and facilitates undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery students across a range of subject areas. Her teaching expertise includes:

  • Palliative Care
  • Therapeutic Interventions in Palliative Care
  • Communication Skills
  • Prescribing in Nursing and Midwifery Practice
  • Advanced Systematic Health Assessment Skills
  • Venepuncture Skills

She also supervises PhD and MSc dissertation research and currently serves as Course Director for the Postgraduate Certificate in (Nurse/Midwife) Prescribing Programme.
