Biography

Associate Professor Baban started surgical training in Ireland back in 2006 on Basic Surgical Training (BST) in Cork and achieved the membership exam MRCS. He enjoys running and has completed half and full marathons and enjoys spending times with his family especially his 2 boys. He is delighted to start as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at University of Limerick and a Consultant General/Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at University Limerick Hospitals Group.

Academic Qualifications: 

PhD in Surgery Theses was Exploring the relationship between Bacteria and tumors and his interest was always in breast cancer. However, he invented a new animal model for Ovarian cancer and he set up the first Biobank for all cancer samples In Bioscience Institute at UCC.

Professional Experience: 

Associate Professor Baban did his higher surgical training, Specialist Training in Ireland and his first year was at University Hospital Limerick.  He completed the fellowship exam and was awarded FRCS (Fellow of Royal College of Surgeon) and he moved to Frimley Park NHS Foundation Trust/UK on his Final year to do a Fellowship on Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.
