Biography
Clodagh O’Neill is a University Teacher in Immersive Bioscience and Biotherapeutics at the University of Limerick, with expertise in translational research, cancer biology and immunology. Her work focuses on advancing therapeutic solutions to improve human health.
Clodagh completed her PhD at the University of Galway in 2022, where her research focused on extracellular vesicle (EV)-encapsulated microRNAs as targeted therapies for breast cancer. As part of her doctoral training, she undertook a research placement at the University of Arizona, contributing to the preclinical evaluation of EV-based therapeutics. She previously obtained an MSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Galway in 2017.
Following her PhD, Clodagh carried out postdoctoral research at CÚRAM, University of Galway. Her postdoctoral work, funded by biopharmaceutical company Takeda, focused on evaluating the immunological impact of inflammation-targeted nanoparticle formulations for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
Alongside her research, Clodagh is deeply passionate about teaching and research-led education. She has supervised over 20 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her teaching is driven by a commitment to preparing students for impactful careers in the biomedical science field.
