Dermot McMorrow, CEng

Dermot McMorrow is an Assistant Professor in Digital Manufacturing in the School of Engineering at the University of Limerick.

His work sits at the intersection of digital manufacturing, engineering capability development, professional formation and Industry 5.0. Drawing on extensive experience in highly regulated life sciences manufacturing environments, he adopts a translational approach that connects industrial practice, academic research and engineering education.

Dermot is particularly interested in how engineers, organisations and professional ecosystems develop the capability to translate technical possibility into responsible, adoptable and valuable practice. His work spans industry-academic collaboration, innovation adoption, engineering education and the development of Equipment Systems Engineering (ESE) as a professional and academic discipline.

Through his roles at the University of Limerick, the ESE Academy and Engineers Ireland, he is committed to advancing engineering capability development, professional formation and lifelong learning for engineers operating in increasingly complex digital and AI-enabled environments.
