Biography

Elaine Vaughan is Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Limerick. Her published work focuses on Irish English; corpus pragmatics; workplace discourse and communities of practice; the pragmatics of humour and laughter; and the use of corpora and corpus-based methodologies for intra-varietal, pragmatic and sociolinguistic research. She is a member of the Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) network, the Irish English Network (IrEN) amongst others.
