Biography

Dr. Frank Nugent is an Associate Professor in Sports Science in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Limerick. Frank is Theme Leader for 'Endurance Sports Science' one of the core themes, of the Sport and Human Performance Research Centre, based at the University of Limerick.  Frank completed his PhD in Performance Physiology in 2018. Frank has been working as a strength and conditioning (Sand;C) coach since 2011. Frank s experience is diverse having working with youth, collegiate, professional and Paralympic athletes. Frank is an accredited Sand;C coach through the Sport Ireland Institute, United Kingdom Sand;C Association and a Weightlifting Ireland Level 2 Olympic Weightlifting Coach.  Frank has published across a wide range of areas in Sand;C, physiology and biomechanics. His research interests are primarily performance related and include low back pain in rowers, youth sport, Paralympic sport, Sand;C and endurance training methodologies.
