Teaching Interests
Prof Walker holds the Bernal Chair in Process Engineering at the Bernal Institute, UL and is a Visiting Research Professor at Queen's University Belfast (UK).
Prof Walker currently holds the following awards: PI for Enterprise Ireland, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre (PMTC); PI on SFI Infrastructure Programme; PI on SFI FF Programme; Co-PI on SSPC Research Ireland's Centre in Pharmaceuticals; Co-PI for Enterprise Ireland, Dairy Process Technology Centre (DPTC), Project Leader in H2020 - MSCA - COFUND 'PROCESS'.
Professor Walker has been awarded ~€37,000,000 as Principal Investigator on 35 research projects associated with advanced manufacturing from EU, UK government, EPSRC, Irish Government, UK Charities and Industrial sources.
His research team currently consists of Post-docs and research students focusing on process engineering modelling in manufacturing. He is a member of the editorial advisory board for 5 major international journals including Chemical Engineering Journal and Chemical Engineering Research and Design.
He has 235 international journal publications (h-index = 71, and over 20,000 citations, Scopus). Prof Walker has 5 patents and is Scientfic Director of two university spin out companies 'ADFerTech' from Queen's University Belfast and 'Innovative Particle Processing, iP2' from University of Limerick.
