Research Interests

Dr Purtill's research areas include statistical profiling in longitudinal population studies such as The Irish Longitudinal Study of Aging (TILDA), latent class analysis, biases in observational studies, modelling injuries in elite athletes, design and analysis of randomised control trials, meta-analyses, validity and reliability studies.

Teaching Interests

Teaching Interests: Teaching through research to enhance statistics and quantitative research methods courses. Use of technology based assessment in statistics. Knowledge transfer from quantitative methods in health science to students studying business courses. Teaching statistical modelling through applications in health science and; business.

Biography

Dr Helen Purtill is an Associate Professor in Statistics and; Data Science in the Department of Mathematics and; Statistics at the University of Limerick. Her research interests include latent class analysis, biases in observational longitudinal studies, modelling injury data in elite athletes, design and analysis of randomised control trials, reliability and validity analysis, systematic reviews and meta analyses.
