Biography

I am a Chartered Health Psychologist based in the School of Allied Health, University of Limerick. I use insights from psychology to explore health related behaviours and communication. I have broad, interdisciplinary interests, including how habits may underpin maintenance of behaviour, including physical activity. I currently lead two large ebike projects. The ISCycle project (funded by SEAI and Department of Transport) aims to produce lasting modal shift from private car to ebikes. ISCycle2 builds on this foundation, with a focus on increasing equity in sustainable mobility.

Many of my previous projects have been culturally-located: research with ethnic minorities or in low and middle income countries. I also has a particular interest in research methods and open science. Previously I spent 12 years teaching communication skills and health behaviour change at the University of Otago, New Zealand.
