Biography

Jason Bennett is a Lecturer in Molecular Pharmacology at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Limerick. Dr Bennett has a BSc and PhD in Pharmacology from University College Dublin. In 2010, he moved to Imperial College London to take up a post-doctoral research associate position in Prof. Guido Franzoso s lab. His post-doctoral research aimed to decipher the mechanisms by which NF-κB transcription factors drive cancer by integrating the signalling networks governing cancer-cell survival, metabolism and tumour microenvironment (TME)-based inflammation. In 2019, he was appointed Lecturer in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Coventry University where he continued his research into discovering why immunotherapies work or fail, and how they can be improved to reach their full potential as a broadly transformative treatment for cancer. In 2021, Dr Bennett moved back home to take up a lectureship position in the newly formed Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), before joining UL in January 2023. His current research focuses on advancing our understanding of the regulatory mechanisms of innate immune cell signalling in the host s response to cancer.
