Biography
Kieran is the course director for both the Bachelor of Arts in International Business and the Master of Taxation. He has a Bachelor of Business Studies & French (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Limerick. After completing a Masters in Accounting in Smurfit Business School (UCD), he trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers, obtaining his Chartered Accountant (1998 to 2011) and Chartered Tax Advisor (2002 to date) qualifications.
Having spent eight years working as a Chartered Tax Advisor he took up his present role as a lecturer in taxation in the Kemmy Business School. Since then, he has delivered numerous taxation, accounting and finance modules, both at undergrad and postgrad level. He currently deliver modules on the Master of Taxation, BA in Law & Accounting, BA in International Business and BA in Applied Taxation (a bespoke programme delivered solely to employees of the Revenue Commissioners, Ireland's Revenue Authority). He has also lectured at Part 3 level on the Irish Tax Institute's Chartered Tax Advisor programme and has acted as external examiner for numerous third level institutions in Ireland.
Kieran's primary research interest is seeing how aspects of behavioural economics can be used to improve tax compliance.
