Biography
Dr Marine Raman is a Senior Technical Officer in the iBio team, Department of Biological Sciences. She brings over 15 years of combined academic and biopharmaceutical experience in protein science.
Dr. Raman is originally from France, after a MSc in Chemistry of Biomolecules at the University of Montpellier, she moved to Scotland for her PhD at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Prof. Dominic Campopiano. There, she discovered the fascinating world of molecular biology and protein chemistry. Her research focused on the study of a bacterial serine palmitoyl transferase (SPT) and its implication in the neurological disease Hereditary and Autonomic Sensory Neuropathy type I (HSAN1). She then undertook postdoctoral research at the University of St-Andrews, investigating the structure and function of integral membrane proteins, where she gained valuable insight into protein structure determination.
Dr. Raman brings extensive industrial experience from senior scientific roles at Immunocore, Oxford and Regeneron, Limerick. At Immunocore, Dr. Raman was working in the R&D department, leading monoclonal T-cell receptors (mTCR) engineering and characterization programs for oncology and infectious disease applications. Her role in Regeneron, introduced her to the world of large-scale monoclonal antibodies production, where she supported manufacturing activities through small-scale process characterization and technical investigations.
