Dr. Marta Zieba is an Associate Professor in economics at University of Limerick. She received her PhD in Economics from Trinity College Dublin (2008) and her Master's degree in Economics and Business Administration (Diplom-Kauffrau) from European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder) in Germany (2003).
Before joining University of Limerick, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Economics, Trinity College Dublin from 2008 until 2012, where she worked in the area of cultural economics, developing economics and economics of international migration. Her PhD work was related to the estimation of production and demand functions for German, Austrian and Swiss non-profit theatres.
Her main research interest is in the applied microeconomics and microeconometrics. She is interested in studying cultural economics, in particular the efficiency and productivity factors for the performing arts institutions. Her other recent research areas of interest are in the cultural tourism, health systems and economics of well-being.
Since 2016, she has been leading the Economic Efficiency & Productivity Analysis research cluster based in the Kemmy Business School, UL. The group publishes and disseminates applied research in the measurement, analysis, and drivers of economic efficiency, and productivity in a number of areas of economics, such as the health and long-term care sectors, cultural and education sectors. The research cluster is well-positioned to collaborate in generating high quality publications in top ranked international journals, including Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Health Care Management Science and Small Business Economics. The group has published and finalised further articles in the specified area and its research was presented at numerous international conferences.
