Biography

As a researcher, my interests are aligned with the fields of Social and Community Psychology, with a special interest in the social dynamics and multilevel outcomes of informal community groups for solidarity and mutual aid.

My Irish Research Council funded PhD project examined experiences and outcomes of community solidarity initiatives with people on the move and the wider community in Ireland, applying a critical lens to intergroup contact theory, and adopting an ecological perspective. Currently, I hold a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship from Research Ireland  to conduct a participatory evaluation of Women's Sheds in Ireland, working with Prof. Ronni Greenwood (Project ID: GOIPD/2024/826). Alongisde this, I am a member of Prof. Mike Quayle's Social Dynamics lab, where I am involved in a project adopting the concept of stigmergy within the context of social identity building on social media.

I use multiple methods in my research, with an emphasis on qualitative and participatory methodologies. I am also trained in PhotoVoice - a method of participatory photography to engage with groups for self expression and social change.
