Negin Ammari is a researcher in sustainable bioprocessing and green extraction technologies, with expertise spanning natural product chemistry, ionic liquids, and process optimization for bioactive compound recovery. Their current research at the University of Limerick focuses on developing eco-efficient extraction and stabilization methods for marine bioresources, particularly Fucus vesiculosus and Ascophyllum nodosum, through hydrodynamic cavitation and bio-based encapsulation techniques.
During their PhD, Negin demonstrated the potential of hydrodynamic cavitation as a scalable, low-cost, and sustainable alternative to conventional extraction methods, achieving significantly higher yields of polyphenols, phlorotannins, and proteins using pure water as a green solvent. Their work integrates experimental research with data-driven modeling approaches, including machine learning, to predict extraction efficiency and minimize experimental demand.
Previously, in their Master’s research at the University of Tabriz, they investigated the thermodynamic and transport properties of pharmaceutical ionic liquid systems, providing fundamental insights into solute–solvent interactions in aqueous biological media using both experimental and COSMO computational methods.
Negin’s interdisciplinary expertise bridges chemistry, biotechnology, and sustainable process design, contributing to the advancement of applications across food, pharmaceutical, and environmental sectors.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
