Research Interests

My current research interests focus on the dynamics of age and ageism in the workplace; work values; employment 'post-retirement', workplace learning and development, and cross-national HRM/D trends and issues.

Teaching Interests

Over the course of my career, I have taught a wide array of subjects across a multitude of programmes and to a diverse range of undergraduate, post-graduate and post experience professional learners. Currently my teaching interests center around aspects of effective and sustainable Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour and Learning and DevelopmentTeaching represents a core component of my academic role as an academic - it is the aspect of the role that I commit considerable energies to, and which I enjoy enormously. I believe in the importance of creating a rich, interactive and valuable learning environment for our students and I strive to deliver that in every module that I teach. I was shortlisted for the UL Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015, identified nationally as a Teaching Hero in 2021, and won the Regional Teaching Excellence Award in 2021.

Biography

Professorandnbsp;Noreen Heraty is Head of the Department of Work and; Employment Studies at the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick. She primarily teaches Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour across a range of graduate, undergraduate, professional and executive programmes. Her current research interests include age and attitudes towards age in the workplace, generational issues in employment, retention and career development, workplace learning and cross-national HRM/D trends and issues. She has co-authored a number of leading textbooks on Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour and Training and Development, and her research has appeared in leading international, peer-reviewed journals including Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Managerial Psychology, International Studies in Management and Organization, and the International Journal of Human Resource Management. She is a co-director of the Age in the Workplace Research Network (AWR-net).
