Research Interests

Olivias research focuses mainly on preservice teachers conceptual understanding of mathematics and effective practices in mathematics learning support.

Teaching Interests

Olivia lectures on both the undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics teacher education programmes in UL. She lectures pure mathematics (number theory and group theory) and mathematics education modules.

Biography

Olivia originally trained as a physical education and mathematics teacher at UL, and taught at secondary school for a number of years before returning to full time education. She completed a higher diploma in pure mathematics at Maynooth University before returning to UL to complete her PhD in mathematics education. Olivia is a lecturer in mathematics education on the Physical Education and PME in Mathematics Teaching programmes. She is also director of the Mathematics Learning Centre in UL.
