Dr Róisín Doogue is an Associate Professor of General Practice in the School of Medicine, University of Limerick. She is a registered general nurse who has over 20 years’ experience working as a general practice nurse (GPN) and primary care researcher. She completed her doctoral thesis on self-monitoring of blood pressure in people who have had a previous stroke or transient ischaemic attack. She is a Cochrane fellow, completing a systematic review of blood pressure self-monitoring in people with hypertension.
She is a previous national chairperson of the Irish General Practice Nurses Educational Association (IGPNEA) and is the current chairperson of the IGPNEA education sub-committee. She has contributed to many education programmes for GPs and GPNs including the Post Graduate Diploma in ‘Primary Care Nursing Practice’ in UCD, the IGPNEA ‘Principles in General Practice Nursing’ Programme (Irish Healthcare Awards 2024, Highly Commended award in the Education Category), and multidisciplinary webinars and study days. She is currently completing a MSc in Health Professions Education.
