Personal profile

Research Interests

My research interests span across sustainable energy systems, advanced materials, and green manufacturing technologies. Building on my previous work in electrochemical cell development, solar energy harvesting, and wastewater treatment, I have developed a strong foundation in materials synthesis, surface modification, and process optimization for energy and environmental applications. Currently, as part of the Horizon Europe CARBOWAVE project at the University of Limerick, my PhD research focuses on the design and development of efficient susceptor coatings for microwave-assisted carbon fibre production. This project aims to revolutionize conventional carbon fibre manufacturing by introducing energy-efficient, low-emission heating technologies that enhance process uniformity and reduce overall production costs. My research particularly explores the interactions between electromagnetic radiation and coated materials, thermal performance of novel susceptor systems, and their scalability for industrial applications. Through this work, I aim to contribute to the advancement of sustainable materials engineering and to support Europe’s transition towards decarbonised and energy-efficient manufacturing.
