Biological Sciences at the interface of physics, chemistry and biology.
Dr Shayon Bhattacharya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences in the University of Limerick. He is a member of the Bernal Institute and is a deputy lead of the Bernal pillar Advanced Characterisation and AI-driven Technologies. Shayon also works with SSPC, the Research Ireland Centre for Pharmaceuticals. Shayon is an emerging leader in computational biophysics and peptide-based therapeutics, with an interdisciplinary background spanning molecular biophysics, computational chemistry and translational drug design. His research integrates molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, density functional theory (DFT) and machine learning to develop novel therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases, cancers and metabolic disorders. Shayon collaborates with leading experimental and industry partners in SSPC, European Framework, Research Ireland and Enterprise Ireland funded projects, actively leading or driving these multiple projects. His YouTube Channel runs molecular modelling tutorial sessions for newbies.
