Personal profile

Biography

I hold a PhD in Network Science from Central European University's Department of Network and Data Science (Budapest/Vienna) and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Zagreb's Depratment of Psychology. My undergraduate studies were also in psychology (University of Zagreb). As an interdisciplinary researcher, my research identity is most aligned with computational social science and the general research frameworks of complexity research and analytical sociology. My previous work experience includes positions at:

  • School of Health & Wellbeing (University of Glasgow, UK)
  • Institute for Analytical Sociology (Linköping University, Sweden)
  • Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest, Hungary)
  • Institute for Social Research (Zagreb, Croatia).

I have also been a research visitor at:

  • Social Networks Lab, School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne (Australia)
  • Psychological Methods, University of Amsterdam (Netherlands)
  • Complexity Science Hub (Vienna, Austria).

Research Interests

I am interested in:

  • "intersections" of psychology, sociology, network science, computational social science, and data science
  • the complexity of interrelationships between people (social networks: socio-centric and ego-centric; positive ties and negative ties), but also
  • relationships between health conditions and other psychological constructs (e.g., psychological networks, multi-comorbidity networks)
  • topics in social psychology, personality, mental health and health behaviours
  • statistical modelling of network data
  • computational social science and data science

In my research I like to use advanced statistical (quantitative) methods (e.g., models for network data such as MRQAPs, ERGMs, ALAAMs, SAOMs, etc.) and different types of datasets (psychometric data, population register data, extracted databases, etc.)

I often use network approaches in theory and methods.

Teaching Interests

Social networks, network science, network interventions, advanced quantitative methods, social psychology, etc.
