Biography

Dr Suzanne Couloigner holds a PhD in Business and Management and a MSc in International Business from the University of Nottingham, UK. Prior to this, she did her UG degrees, a BA in English Literature and a BA in German Literature, at the Universite Paris Sorbonne. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Her research area is in International Human Resource Management, focusing on the lived experiences of migrant workers and expatriates, at the intersection of work and private lives. Her research is predominantly qualitative, using interviews and ethnography. More recently, she has started to use art-based methods to explore (lack of) freedom and autonomy at work, particularly focusing on precarious workers.

In addition to her research, Suzanne is a committed lecturer teaching at both UG and PG levels on topics including Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviours, Future of Work, Management and Society, Research Methods (Qual.). In her teaching, Suzanne embraces a student-centred approach, aiming to empower students to become critical, reflective, and independent thinkers while preparing them to be effective practitioners. She also supervises numerous research projects at the Master's level.

She joined the University of Limerick in 2025 and is currently working on research projects on intra-EU migration. In the past, she has held full time positions at the University of York (UK) and the University of Nottingham (UK). Prior to joining academia, she was a triligual International HR Officer at BASF (Berlin, Germany), being responsible for HR management in seven countries.
