Biography

Dr Toni Rossiter is Assistant Professor in Sport and Exercise Sciences in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Limerick.   Toni is also a Senior Performance Physiology Consultant with the Sport Ireland Institute, and over the past 17 years has held a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering performance physiology services to Irish Olympic and Paralympic athletes and coaches. She was Team Ireland physiologist at the Beijing, London, and Rio Paralympic Games and the Tokyo Olympic Games.  She was Deputy Chef de Mission/Head of Performance Support for Team Ireland at last summer’s Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, with key responsibility for the management and coordination of the sports science and medical team.    

Toni is a graduate of the University of Limerick where she completed her undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science before graduating from UL with an MSc in research in 2005.  She more recently graduated with her doctorate, her PhD research focused on the impact of long-haul travel on high-performance athletes and their support teams. 

Her research interests include strategies to improve recovery and performance of elite athletes and support staff.
