Biography

Vikas, a Postdoctoral Researcher in Data Science at the University of Limerick, is dedicated to advancing applied data science and AI methodologies to strengthen evidence-informed policy, particularly within the youth justice system. His research focuses on improving data usability, modelling complex social and behavioural patterns, and developing transparent, reproducible analytical frameworks that can be adopted by non-technical stakeholders.
His work spans network science, NLP, forecasting, and longitudinal modelling, with strong emphasis on responsible AI and interpretability. Vikas has delivered multiple end-to-end solutions across diverse domains including justice, healthcare, sustainability, and public administration. His portfolio includes automated NLP pipelines for CPD text classification, diversity dashboards using Azure SQL and Power BI, dataset-matching algorithms combining similarity metrics, OCR-based information extraction, carbon-calculator user interfaces, government chatbots powered by deep learning, and CNN-based health prediction models for Parkinson’s disease.
Drawing on experience in regulatory organisations, government ministries, medical research, and environmental analytics, Vikas brings a multidisciplinary perspective to data-driven problem-solving. His research aims to demonstrate how AI, combined with rigorous statistical approaches, can unlock actionable insight, support system reform, and positively impact communities. He is particularly committed to developing ethical, context-aware AI that enhances transparency, fairness, and social value.
