The Award for Excellence in Service to the Community is presented to a UL member of staff annually in recognition of excellence in the area of voluntary work within the campus community and beyond, during the nominee’s period of employment in UL. For me, this award recognized my key contributions to the social and cultural needs of the local and national communities. At a local level, specifically it was Limerick City Community Development project which supports those living in disadvantaged communities. At a national level, it was through work with Care Alliance Ireland who support family caregivers supporting family, friends or relatives with an illness or disability.
