Abstract

In Chapter 6, Kevin Murphy and Angelo DeNisi present a model to examine and highlight the appraisal process in different contexts. Given that the present volume deals with various perspectives on the performance management process around the world, this chapter provides a set of unifying themes that can be used for the discussions of these perspectives. The authors propose a two-part model that focuses on the performance management system, with Part I focusing on the performance appraisal process while Part II focuses on the broader performance management issue.
