Abstract

Applied to multitrack recording adaptive Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) display poor performance at detection and slow convergence time as well as poor tracking properties. The following paper introduces a new spectral factorization of channel impulse responses that can be used for target optimization for a new DFE based detector that is also reported here. The DFE structure considered exhibits improved bER properties as well as fast tracking properties and fast convergence time when used on a separable channel with the target defined here.
