All-optical AND gate using nonlinear polarization rotation in a bulk semiconductor optical amplifier

Abstract

An all-optical AND gate is realized using a bulk semiconductor optical amplifier. The operation is based on signal-induced nonlinear polarization rotation of a probe light. The logic gate is conducted at a bit rate of 2.488Gbit/s.
