Abstract
The analytical transient solutions of saturated charged porous media were presented. The solution provided the characteristic time scale for diffusion of pore pressure, concentration and electrical potential. It was shown that the incorporation of the ionic volume fraction into the saturation condition can result into significant differences in the transient response if the eigenvalues corresponding to pore pressure and concentration diffusion differ greatly in magnitude.
