N2 - In many countries, due to the exhaustion of industrial production and the exhaust emissions of a large number of fuel vehicles, air pollution problems are also increasing, which has a negative impact on the ecological environment and people's health. Reducing the impact of air pollution on people and improving air quality are inseparable from the monitoring of air. The following problems are common in previous air monitoring systems: Large energy consumption, short-life, limited communication distance, and high maintenance cost. In this paper, an air pollution index (API) monitoring system was built using the Internet of Things technology and Sigfox low-power wide area network (LPWAN) communication technology to solve the above problems, and this air pollution monitoring system was tested at the University of Limerick.
