Abstract
Ochratoxin A (OTA) is the second important mycotoxin, which is produced by Aspergillus and Penicillium. Despite the fact that a number of techniques have been suggested to remove OTA from the contaminated products, there are several restrictions to apply successfully these methods in industry. The recent investigations regarding the elimination of OTA from the contaminated products have mainly focused on the biological techniques. In this way, there are two major strategies: enzymatic biodegradation and microbial biosorption. In this review, the recent advances in regards of the biological control of OTA with emphasis on the examples considering the mechanisms involved have been studied.
