Abstract

This paper presents a nonlinear control method known as bumpless transfer that addresses the question of seamless controller switching during handoff for a roaming user in a wireless cellular network. The work explicitly considers the uncertain effects of multiple access interference, path loss, multipath fading, shadowing and round trip delay in a system theoretic context, as well as the costs that are imposed through the implementation in hardware of output transmission power control.
