Abstract

In this comprehensive overview, we delve into the world of one-dimensional carbon-based materials, namely carbon nanorods, nanowires, and nanotubes, all distinguished by their nanoscale dimensions and remarkable high aspect ratios. We explore the synthesis techniques and delve into the distinctive properties that arise from their unique structure. Furthermore, we delve into their versatile applications across a range of domains, including electronics, energy conversion and storage, sensing and detection, and biomedicine. We also take a closer look at the challenges and future prospects within these application areas, and highlight emerging potential in fields like nanorobotics and nanophotonics. Ultimately, we underscore the considerable impact that carbon nanorods, nanowires, and nanotubes can have across various disciplines. This review is a valuable reference for researchers and professionals seeking insights into the development and utilization of these extraordinary materials.
