Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In this chapter, we report on a novel outreach project designed to educate secondary school students and teachers on the pervasiveness and utility of mathematics throughout a range of careers. The Career Mathways initiative was conducted as a pilot study in Ireland in 2018. STEM Ambassadors, who are well known public figures and members of the community, were invited to inspire and educate students on how mathematics plays a crucial role in their careers. We describe Career Mathways in detail in this chapter, including research about its effectiveness.
