Abstract

The results are presented of a study aimed at validating numerical simulations of mould filling phenomena in a thin wall horizontal casting. The flow is studied using contact measurements and the results are compared with CFD calculations. The effect of surface tension and different inlets are concerned. The time of solidification is compared to values measured by thermocouples.
