Abstract

La-Sialon glasses with two different amounts of nitrogen were investigated. Mechanical and thermal properties were assessed. Samples of the glasses were heat treated in order to promote crystallisation. The properties of the heat treated samples were compared with these of the parent glasses. The nature and morphology of the crystalline phases were investigated by X-ray diffraction and SEM analysis.
