Abstract
THIS paper provides an overview of a problem based learning (PBL) module on Electronics and the Environment for undergraduate engineers. In this module sustainability is treated as a key business concern as opposed to an altruistic goal. The students are presented with some key environmental and social concerns and they must construct these as business threats. Following this they must review current approaches to these problems before designing a product for 10 years hence.
