Abstract

Dynamic mechanical analysis has been used to follow changes in the properties of wood (Pinus sylvestris) subject to attack by Coniophora puteana. Shear storage modulus fell steadily over the 42 day observation period and correlated with weight loss. Tan δ shows relatively little change implying uniform degradation of the structural polymers.
