Abstract
The importance of size reduction in relation to pharmaceutical active agents and excipients is well known. A variety of types of equipment are used for milling, such as ball mill and fluid energy mill. This article focuses on particle size reduction methods, characterization of particle size and shape, the importance of controlling particle characteristics to ensure the success of pharmaceutical powder processing, and the manufacture of elegant pharmaceutical products.
