Abstract

Oxynitride glasses were prepared by blending powders of silicon nitride or aluminum nitride with high purity oxides, pressing the powder into pellets, melting the pellets, pouring the glass into a pre-heated mould, and annealing for an hour prior to slow furnace cooling. The effects of temperature on the viscosities and Young's modulus of the glasses were presented.
