Abstract
Flicker was commissioned (and titled) by Shobana Jeyasingh for the second of our dance collaborations in 2005. For our first collaboration, Miniatures, I had suggested using a string quartet, which became my second quartet in 1998, but for Flicker Shobana insisted on ‘stretching’ me by suggesting an electronic score which was brilliantly and indispensably realised by Jurgen Simpson.
