An examination of the Government's record suggests that although monetarist theory may survive intact. Mr Lawson has turned from monetarism to Keynesion counter‐cyclical demand management. Nigel Healey, Senior Lecturer in Economics at Leeds Polytechnic, charges that developments presented as technical adjustments conceal a fundamental change of direction in economic policy.
