Abstract
Clarification of the development of the anatomy and the organisation of the abdomen were recent. These lead to new biology that has significant implications for scientific exploration and clinical application. The incorporation of the Mesenteric Model of Abdominal Anatomy in reference scientific and clinical texts has been rapid and reflects the accuracy with which this model depicts the human abdomen. Given the above, it is important that we return to inflammation, with the new model of abdominal organisation in mind. A first step in doing so is to reappraise the role of the mesentery in inflammation. This was conducted in the preceding chapters and leads to the following chapter which proposes future avenues of exploration of the mesentery in inflammation. The science of the mesentery is relatively new, and the technology by which we can investigate the mesentery is such that rapid advances have already been made and are likely to develop quickly.
