Abstract

Most operative of time in resectional colorectal surgery is spent in mobilizing and resecting the mesentery. As a result, the surgeon must be familiar with approaches to peritonotomy, mesenterotomy, mesofascial separation, mesenterectomy, and vascular skeletonization and division. The colorectal surgeon must be able to achieve these goals in the robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgical context.
