Abstract

The process of knowledge gathering and system definition is an important and timeconsuming activity in large discrete event simulation projects. Furthermore, discrete event simulations are usually developed for a specific problem, and not reused. A result of this is that the knowledge gath ered is generally not stored in a manner that enables it to be reused. Knowledge management techniques and tools could be used to address this. One knowledge management tool, widely used for collaborative projects outside of simulation, is the wiki. However, most wikis do not have sufficient graphics capabilities to be of significant use in the context of discrete event system description. This paper proposes the use of a graphical wiki tool to assist in the knowledge gathering and system description phase of simulation projects.
